What can I do?

Now a days there is a lot of talk about going green and reducing your carbon footprint. I'm sure you have thought about this subject and asked yourself the question - what can I really do to help? Well there is a lot actually! One thing I'd like to share with you is freecycle.

Freecycle is a great way to recycle your unwanted items (everything must be free) so that they can be put to use instead of sitting in a landfill. Do you have an old TV that is broken or maybe your kids have grown out of some clothes, one pair of shoes or even just a few random items? Post your items on freecycle! Maybe a handyman can fix up that TV or use if for parts. You could also be giving back to people who have less than you. Isn't that better than dumping your unwanted items on mother earth? Freecycle also works the other way around - maybe your graduating from school and need a cap and gown. Just post it - maybe someone is willing to give you theirs that has been sitting in their closet. Or maybe you just have a question on the proper way to dispose and recycle items - freecycle can give you those answers too.

Some things that I have found on freecycle - A brand new mattress for a guest bedroom, several cans of unwanted paint and I found a home for my Beta fish (my cats were destined to kill him). I see a lot of things for children such as toys, clothes, diapers and formula and also furniture that can be re-purposed.

If your interested go to Freecycle.org and type in your area. This is a great way to help out our environment and help out others!

Freecycle is cool - but we've had a hard time actually finding things that are still available by the time we contact the person. Plus we got like a thousand emails a day with crap - but it is still a worthwhile endeavor.
