...that would be me...at 2 am, sweaty, adrenalin pumping, ears bleeding, sore throat and loving every minute damn of it.
Sometimes, after life's frustrations, its best to just jump in the pit and let it all out....
Did I mention all this is for only six people? And we haven't even gotten to the good part...
As Mom and I were baking this morning the phone rang and it was the police department from a local city asking about my brothers car. The police officer stated that it was found running on the side of the road at 4:30AM. It gave us a little scare but we were able to contact my brother who is away on business to find out that he was alright. Turns out that his car was stolen from his place of business last night and stripped to the frame. And by frame I mean this; The set list was great but of course I was a little disappointed because the set was so short but I guess that's what happens when you are making way for Metallica to take stage...
Here is video of ONE...if you have never heard this song I strongly suggest you download it.
(The video cuts out just as the flames from the center of the speakers start flaring up in green, orange and red. That's what we get for not putting the larger memory in the camera!)
Towards the end of the show James (who was sporting a hawk) stops the show. He asks for the house lights to be turned on, and he starts saying that today was a special girls birthday. Her daddy isn't always around, he goes on tour a lot. So for her seventh birthday she got to come out to work with daddy. So out comes this little girl, Marcella and the entire arena sang Happy Birthday Marcella. I almost had tears in my eyes, it was so sweet.
This led to the last song, Seek and Destroy, they played it with the lights on as a ton of huge black Metallica beach balls just dropped from the ceiling like it was New Years Eve. Awesome! All the kids were up on stage kicking the balls around, it was so funny! Here is a picture and a short video...
Yes, it is definitely safe to say that Metallica has once again outdone themselves. I am so fortunate to have been able to see this legendary band not once, not twice but three times! If you ever get the chance, GO! You don't have to be a metal head to enjoy this show...
There are so many talented musicians and bands out there. Over the years I have gone through many 'favorites'. When I was 21 my favorite was Korn. It's heavy and the music spoke about very personal things to me. Although I don't favor that band anymore, I still feel a certain connection to the lead vocalist Jonathan Davis. I admire him for being able to come out and say what he has said and just put everything out there. At any rate, on my 21st birthday I was getting all dolled up to go out bar hopping with my bf and friend Ryan. When Ryan showed up he gave me my gift. It was a Korn t-shirt. Awesome! Inside my card was 4 tickets to see Korn play in Baltimore, MD that night. F*#$ing Awesome! That was the first of three Korn concerts.
Gosh, How lucky am I? I have probably been to 50 or more concerts in my 24 years. I have seen everything from Metallica to REO Speedwagon. I have kissed to Etta James, I have toked to Bob Marley, I have cried to Josh Groban, I have jumped in the pit to Machine Head, I have danced on my grandfathers shoes to Frank Sinatra, I sang along to Amy Grant and screamed along with Rage Against the Machine. I have praised to Third Day, I have boogied to the Sugar Hill Gang and drank to AC/DC.
I am truly blessed to have music in my life.
